Lovcen National Park towers over the Bay of Kotor, providing incredible views from its serpentine road, built during Austro-Hungarian times. Thirty two hairpin bends reveal a more spectacular view with each turn and eventually you reach the lush green beauty of the National Park, a wonderful place to hike, bike or relax in nature.
From the summit of Lovcen views extend north to Croatia, across the Adriatic sea, down to Lake Skadar and the forbidding Prokletije mountains on the Albanian border and north towards the interior mountains of Montenegro. The summit is also home to the mausoleum of Petar Njegos II, Montenegro’s most famous poet ruler and built by the sculptor Ivan Mestrovic.
